Having spent the last 10 years helping people change their behaviors, I’ve come to recognize a lot of similarities in the way people motivate themselves.
The most common method I’ve noticed is to beat yourself up. Logically it makes sense. You get yourself to feel bad enough and you’ll change. But in my experience what I’ve seen is people get so used to feeling bad that they lose their motivation.
